Fashion Tips by Jetson
In honor of Coachella, I decided to make a share something that is essential to my personal wardrobe; Band Tees.
Anytime I go to a concert or a local band show that I like, I always check out the merch table to see what they’ve got. I usually will also buy a CD if it’s a band I’ve seen for the first time. Band tees are a great way to show your support for local music as well as mainstream. A lot of indie bands also design their own graphics, designs, and logos to accompany their music.
My friends will often ask me what shirt I’m wearing if it’s the name of a band they’ve never heard before. It’s also a great way to share new music with my friends and gives us something to listen to when we hang out.
I highly suggest that the next time you go to a concert or a local band show, head to the merch table to see what they’ve got.

Whether it’s a fad, or it’s here to stay, the varsity jacket is a must have. I find that this style of jacket works on most body shapes and still looks great. I prefer mine to be plain with no patches or writing on it, but only because that way I can customize it with my own patches. And the best part is that it’s easy to find them in dozens upon dozens of color combinations, so it’s easy to find one that works for you.
St. Patrick’s Day is easily one of my favorite holidays. So, with it fast approaching, I decided to post a singular outfit that’s good for almost any St. Paddy’s celebration. Whether you’re going to your local Irish Pub, a party, the club, or a show, this look is sure to be a hit.
- 1MX MODERN FIT STRETCH COTTON SHIRT ($59.50 at Express
- RUDE Black And Grey Plaid Zipper Skinny Fit Denim Jeans ($44.50 at Hot Topic)
- Green Plaid ‘Pretender’ Glasses ($12.99 at Spencers)
- Black Bow Tie ($3.99)
- Authentic Bright Green/Black Vans ($39.99 at eBay)
Now keep in mind, this is just one look. The prices I’ve listed here are pretty expensive, but this is only for an idea, and any of these items can be replaced by articles of your choice. You can replace the dress shirt with a novelty tee, or replace the pants with a kilt! Have fun, play around with it.
And whatever you decide to do this St. Patrick’s Day, please be safe as there might be a lot of drunk drivers after the bars/pubs close.
The time is fast approaching that I will need to get a new pair of glasses. For the last 6+ years, I’ve sported rectangular frames from Wal-Mart to Marc Jacobs. They’ve been a great frame for my face, but I think it’s time for something new.
I love Mid-Century vintage-inspired frames. These set of sunglasses are the NDG sun from OLIVER PEOPLES . I love all the colors they come in and I think I’ve decided on the black pair for my everyday glasses and the light tortoise shell for my prescription sunglasses. It’s a win/win if you ask me.
Make sure that when buying prescription glasses, that you’ve shopped around and tried different frames on. Everyone’s faces are shaped differently and what may work for on of your friends, may not look as well on you.

In my personal opinion, the 1MX shirt by Express is one of the best fitting dress shirts. I find the particular cut on this shirt to be physically flattering on most men. And the best part? It comes in a multitude of assorted colors. Some colors come and go with the seasons, but most of the generic colors stay year round.
When taking care of these shirts, although they are washer/dryer safe, I find they last longer if taken to the dry cleaners. But if you must put them in the washer/dryer, make sure to remove the collar stays. The thin plastic ones will warp, and the metal ones will bend. I prefer to use the hard plastic stays, which are also available at Express.
The 1MX shirt is normally priced at $59.90, a little pricey for some. But one of the great things about Express is they constantly have some sort of sale going on. Take advantage of these sales and clearence when shopping. I’ve bought seasonal shirts on clearence for a really good price.

I get a lot of my friends asking me how to tie a neck tie. You’d be surprised by how many men don’t know how. So here’s a simple chart on how to tie 4 of the most popular knots: Windsor, Half-Windsor, Four-in-Hand, and Bow Tie.
My personal favorite is the Windsor, but everybody’s different and will have their own preference. I suggest practicing all of them and finding which one works best for you.
Good luck.

In my opinion, every man should have at least one blue button up.
Nick from Karmin is a good example. Here, he’s paired it with a gray cardigan and a red spotted bow tie. Or for Twilight fans, Edward Cullen can be seen wearing one in the famous meadow scene.
It’s a fairly simple shirt to find. I know that Hollister has carried them and I’m sure other places might carry it cheaper, like JCPenney or Ross. I got mine from Vans because I got it for 50% off and it’s a shirt I can also wear to work.
